Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) invites applications from degree holders in sociology, with 1-3 years of field experience, to join its Central India Tiger Habitat Securement Project based out of Nagpur, Maharashtra.

Broad responsibilities include

  • Conducting awareness programmes for local communities and security forces in and around the study area
  • Reporting periodically about work progress, in the form of compiled monthly reports, and communicating to concerned line manager
  • All field reports, photographic documentation, submission of data sheets etc as per the requirements of the Reporting Manager
  • All field level governmental and partner liaison at appropriate levels, and local public relations needs in consultation with the Reporting Manager
  • Acting as the on-site representative of WTI (at a particular level) and ensuring that the image of WTI as a conservation action organisation operating in the field is maintained at all times
  • Maintenance of all assets of the organisation in the area of activity
  • Providing content for the website and participating in dissemination and outreach
  • Developing projects for community interventions in consultation with Heads/PIs
  • Participating in strategic planning activities in consultation with the Head/PI for respective projects and following the current paradigm and principles of social science and wildlife conservation
  • Interacting and networking with relevant government departments, donors/potential donors and other agencies as required
Qualifications, experience & skills
  • Any degree in sociology, with a minimum 1-3 years of hands-on experience in the field
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, and good interpersonal skills are a must
