New Delhi, 13th September 2024:  The Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) was honoured with the prestigious Hindu Business Line Changemaker Award 2024 in the Social Transformation category.

Mr. Vivek Menon, the Founder and Executive Director of WTI, received the award from Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, the Hon’ble Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, during a gala ceremony that celebrated exceptional achievements across various sectors.

The award highlights WTI’s significant contributions to wildlife conservation in India, underscoring our decades-long commitment to protecting the country’s rich biodiversity. Upon receiving the award, Vivek Menon shared his profound belief in the importance of preserving nature– “Nature has given us wonderful treasures; we have to preserve that. “Everything in society has invested in the natural environment. Nature is absolutely important for human society and therefore all economic activities. ” 

The sixth edition of the Hindu Business Line Changemaker Awards honoured individuals and organisations across seven categories: Digital Transformation, Social Transformation, Financial Transformation, Young Changemaker, Iconic Changemaker, Changemaker of the Year, and Chairperson’s Award.

The selection process for these awards was meticulous. It began with nominations, which were then rigorously shortlisted based on specific criteria. The final nominees underwent independent validation, and a distinguished jury of eminent personalities chose the award recipients, spotlighting those who have made extraordinary contributions to society, the economy, and the planet through innovative ideas and relentless determination.
